The saucer-shaped blooms inspired its name and remain one of its defining characteristics. Strong upright stems, healthy foliage and reliable early flowering make it an excellent garden plant as well as a highly regarded cut flower. Although understated in colour, its elegant form has earned it a devoted following among peony collectors, who value it as one of the finest single-flowered herbaceous hybrids.
