The large, fully double blooms are pure white, often accented by small crimson markings on the innermost petals, a feature unique to this celebrated cultivar. Flowering in the early to mid peony season, the blooms are carried on vigorous stems above healthy foliage and are highly valued both in gardens and as cut flowers. Its combination of elegance, fragrance and historical significance has secured Festiva Maxima a lasting place among the finest herbaceous peonies ever introduced.
Process & Materials

Painted with ink and pigments on watercolour paper, this botanical study combines the precision of traditional Gongbi painting with close botanical observation. Fine brushwork defines the numerous overlapping petals, while delicate layers of white, cream and subtle grey pigments create depth without losing the flower's luminosity.
